Classic Apple Pie

Classic apple pie with braided lid. This beautiful pie is super tasty and perfect to serve as a dessert, or as a special treat for the fika break. 
Classic Apple Pie

INGREDIENTS:
Pie shell:
175 g butter
6 dl wheat flour
A pinch of salt
¾ dl water
Filling:
700 juicy apples
1 dl caster sugar
2 tsp ground cinnamon
1 egg, whisked

HOW TO:
Blend butter and flour in a food processor until crumbly. Add the water and blend until smooth. Leave to rest for at least 30 minutes in the fridge.
Set the oven to 175 C°. Peel and cut the apples into small pieces about 1x1cm and mix with the sugar and cinnamon. Roll out 2/3 of the dough and place in a pie dish, about 24 cm, pressing firmly against the inside edges.
Bake the pie shell in the middle of the oven for 10 minutes. Spread the apples in the tin. Roll out the rest of the dough and make strips to braid over the apple pie. Brush with beaten egg. Bake in the middle of the oven for about 35 min until it has a nice colour.
Serve with custard or Swedish Marsán vanilla sauce.
